I am a CNA (fully state-certified Nurses' Aide) based out of Boulder, CO who works at Target as a cashier due to lack of car. I live with my folks, still due to some rough times earlier in life due to mental illness and other things. I currently study on and off with Boulder Family Hospice in the hope of eventually being cut out to be a palliative (terminal patient) care CNA. This has turned out to be a longer road than expected, but the medical profession I've learned is one full of twists and turns. I study Martial Arts in the Vein of Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, with about five years or so of experience in Gracie Jiu Jitsu and about two or so years of training in Muay Thai. I'm not an MMA fighter like on TV. An MMA fighter is someone who trains for at least a few years, gets in a ring or cage depending on league now, and exchanges a pasting under the house MMA rules. Until then, you are simply training in Jiu Jitsu. I love all styles of martial arts, from the softest Aikikai-Ryu Aikido, to the lethal methods of Krav Maga. I have an amateur competition Jiu Jitsu record of 0-3, and as that suggests with that long of training I'm mainly in it for fitness and self-improvement. for pure self-defense, if you want to beat about any striking/grappling style out there, it's called a 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with hollow point rounds standing five feet away. My thoughts about what I do my martial arts for shift constantly, so I'll leave it there. I do not own any firearms, due to my sometimes unstable mental state. and, hell i live in Boulder. Probably one of the nicest pockets of hippie suburbia out there. I also have an intense interest in Eastern Philosophy, especially in Zen Buddhism as it was a prime component in carrying me out of the thick of my (at the time) severely Schizoaffective mental condition. I don't want to start on the stupidity of conflict over religion, so I won't. I believe in doing well for myself and others, and I happen to prefer a happy fat guy under a tree to best represent those beliefs for me personally :P If the body of Christ or heck, aliens from the Pleadian galaxy are more your bag, hey. I love to hear perspectives. My dad is a musician, so i grew up with music. I love it and consider it a natural function of my mind. I've gone through phases of listening to Pink Floyd 24/7, to phases of Fear Factory and Tool 24/7, to Tori Amos and The Dresden Dolls. Anymore, I prefer IDM and Ambient music and some Trance, with a foundation of "lighter" (as compared to acts like Skinny Puppy, Wumpscut, FLA, or Velvet Acid Christ) industrial music like Birthday Massacre, Assemblage 23, VNV Nation Apoptygma Berzerk... and other darkwave/futurepop stuff when I'm angsty. So, that's me. for now. :) I'm not even sure why I'm writing this Biography nearing 8 years of having this journal. who knows.
